(From Devolution magazine May 2007) Review by Phoenix www.devolutionmagazine.co.uk www.myspace.com/devolutionmagazine When you consider genre spanning music you tend to think Rap/Rock or Metal/Hardcore or maybe even Dark Wave/Industrial but what if you could have Medieval Folk/ Black Metal? This is the seventh album from this one man weird machine known as 7 and his selection of session artists. Horns Used For Butting is such a random selection that it's hard to review on the grounds that one moment you are in tears of laughter because of lyrics of vocal style next you hit that dark contemplative low on an atmospheric track. Sometimes grating, sometimes funny often just bloody strange but always 100% unique this collective needs to be heard to be truly, if not understood, then at least appreciated. |
